Collection: Peggy Dean

I was raised as a city kid in San Jose, California.  I have always been in love and at peace in nature.  Drawn to its beauty, space, colors, textures and wildlife.  That is where I was the happiest and always longed to be.

I was a student of art and photography at San Jose City College, San Jose State and Gavilan College.  I started my photography business in 1992.  Emphasizing my portrait images with landscape and natural settings.  I also taught workshops in general photography and hand-color photography.

I retired my business in 2015 and moved to Shady Cove, Oregon.  Pine country!  My hands, needing to create, I started making art baskets with my pine needles for the local Fly tyers to display their hand-tied flys upon.  I enjoy this newfound medium while relaxing in the evenings in my small home at the edge of the forest, across from the Rogue River.  It's very tedious and time consuming but I love the feeling in my hands as I create a new basket.  I collect, clean and prepare the needles and found objects myself.  I try using all natural, found materials from nature, with the exception of the hand tied flys!

Life could not be better here in Shady Cove!
