Award winning artist , Suzanne Leslie, is a native of California residing now in Ashland, Oregon and working in pastels and oils. She is known for her bold use of color and loose impressionistic style. She enjoys painting the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest area and scenes from her travels around the world.
She often uses underpainting or textural materials as a basis for a painting. This is achieved with everything from acrylic inks to pastel ground with fluid acrylics, gouache and watercolor. She constantly contemplates and experiments with her palette, using different painting surfaces and learning new ways to achieve a vision that she has for a scene or in the case of an abstract, an emotion. She has won awards in various juried exhibitions and has been chosen for many prestigious juried shows. She is member of the Pastel Society of America, the Pastel Society of the West Coast, Pastel Artists of Oregon, the Northwest Pastel Society, the Central Coast Pastel Society and the Red Rock Pastel Society.
Suzanne finds art a perfect compliment to her music. She is an accomplished pianist and teacher . There are many parallels between the two modalities which she appreciates and embraces. Suzanne continues to expand her repertoire, mentoring and taking workshops from some of the most renowned artists in the field.
