I am an artist not by choice but out of necessity. A lifestyle of creative problem-solving is as natural and important to me as food, sleep, and oxygen.
As a boy, I found myself standing with my father on a busy street corner in downtown Los Angeles. Across from us was an object that was the most amazing thing that I had seen. It would mark a turning point in my life. It was a tower made of concrete and colored glass that played music. On this particular night, it was lit like a Christmas tree. As the first object that was able to draw my attention, it has found a special place in my memory. To this day, I often wonder, as I complete an art image of my own if it might have such an impact on the mind and soul of another as did the captivation sculpture of my boyhood.
The necessity of my passion demands that I use a variety of senses in my cast and fabricated sculptures create the opportunity for much problem-solving.
Movement --- Sound --- Touch --- Sight
The clean lines of my work cut through the frivolous. The ideal for which I strive is to create powerful experimental images that convey what words cannot while eliminating the distracting and nonessential elements.
