A lifelong Oregonian, mixed-media artist, Shelli Walters shares her love for the PNW landscape and wildlife through her art. Her connection to the natural world shines through her work with joy and energy.
“Nature has so many differences yet everything plays together so beautifully. I think that’s what makes it so appealing and alive. I love exploring this in my work, trying to express that energy and magic. I want to hear the voices of nature come through and share the uplifting energy that is available to us at any time.”
Shelli describes her work as layers upon layers of thoughts, stories, experiences and moods — shifting one over the other — sometimes revealing a hint of what is underneath. You may find yourself looking closer and discovering your own story. Shelli primarily works with paint and collage to create bold images rich in texture and subtle detail. “I use acrylic paint because it dries fast and allows me to work quickly and stay engaged with my painting. The collage pieces create interesting shapes and textures. I love the anything-goes nature of mixed media—its very forgiving and full of possibility and surprise.”
Shelli has been the signature artist for several events. Her work has been featured on CD and book covers and in magazines. Her original paintings can be found in the homes of collectors across the country. Immersed in art since childhood, Shelli discovered a passion for graphic design. She attended design school and made a career of it working at an ad agency for many years. A paintbrush always ready and waiting, she kept exploring fine art in her spare time. She paints and freelances now, giving her more freedom to focus on art and to enjoy the outdoors with her rescue dog, Tasha.
