Bob Drake literally lives in a forest near Grants Pass and the views in and around his home are his inspiration.
Bob started a business in his garage many years ago. His love of early model Ford cars gave way to a thriving business of manufacturing over 2000 parts for antique Ford cars from 1932-1948. Bob Drake Reproductions first item was manufacturing simple cardboard gloveboxes. After 61 years he semi-retired and picked up an old paint brush from his childhood and started to dabble with watercolor.
“Since I’ve been doing watercolor, I’ve noticed how much color and depth nature contains. I was blinded before I started painting, taking things for granted. How did we get so many colors? The process of studying and learning to paint light and shadow has changed my life a little bit. It’s so self rewarding. You get into a space by yourself and you paint and can’t stop. You give yourself a pat on the back. It makes you feel alive!”
