Collection: Bob Drake

I'm a native of Wisconsin . I had a mechanical & art aptitude at a very young age. After school I helped my father in his auto body shop. I was intrigued with Thomas Edison & Henry Ford; they were my mentors. My parents moved to southern California, during my senior year, after graduating I went directly into the work force .

Landed a position at Ampex Computer Products in Culver City , working in shipping area. After only a few months, I received my biggest break, I was promoted to the engineering dept. drafting area. During this period my hobby was collecting early 1932-48 Fords & parts. After a few years in the Aero space industry, I started Bob Drake Reproductions from my home garage. My first item was manufacturing simple cardboard glove boxes. All this was a stepping stone that changed my life.

Today Bob Drake Reproductions manufactures over 2,000 items. We have had many achievements throughout the years, six design patents, National Street Rod Assoc. Best New Catalog, Best Trade Show booth, Product of the Year & V8 Ford Club honorary member.

Today I'm semi-retired , my son oversees the day-to-day operation. Once again after 61 years I picked up my original brush & started to paint watercolors. I truly enjoy painting watercolors. The water & color teases ya & I love the transparency.

I'm striving to be a good artist.
